A Big Family

SDR – the second fastest SODI we’ve seen out in testing today – are a proper family affair, with three sets of dads and sons making up the team! Anthony and Myles, Carl and Riley, and James with his three sons Jacob, Zach and Caleb.

They all share the surname ‘Bate’ – assuming they’re all siblings & cousins.

Anthony has travelled all the way from Cornwall, while Carl and 14-year-old Riley are relative newcomers, having only made their first visit to Daytona in September.

There’s plenty of racing pedigree here too. Dads Carl and Anthony both race in the MG Owners Club, driving an MGB and MG Maestro respectively, and both took class wins at Silverstone recently.

Myles has thousands of Daytona laps under his belt (usually in DMAX), Zach features on the North Circuit fastest lap board, and Jacob could be their secret weapon if the heavens open – he finished on the podium in his very first wet race!

Ones to watch?

The third fastest team in SODI testing so far are DCR Racing.

Introducing Dayner Tillotson, Craig Borland and Rafa Malcolm – three lads from Lancashire who first met at their local TeamSport. They’ve since battled it out in race leagues, BIKC and Club100, but this is their first time racing together as a team.

Rafa is the most experienced of the trio, with a third-place finish at the Easykart World Finals to his name. Dayner loves racing in the wet – which will come in handy – while Craig once raced against F1 star Kimi Antonelli in a sim race.

Oh, and Rafa fancies himself as a male model.

Long day ahead tomorrow?

Since they’re the slowest DMAX team in testing – let’s have a look at Two Bald Tyres.

The team of four know each other Teamsport Basildon. They’re fairly new to big endurance like this – but are planning on taking on the 24 Hours in May.

Danny is the fastest (because he weighs the least), James is the oldest. Scott is the youngest, and Dom is a bit of a dark horse.

None of them are wet weather specialists, – but James is a spinning specialist.

60 minutes of testing

KBR’s Triple Threat and Clean Bulls Racing have each cracked the 1:29 mark to find themselves top of the DMAX standings, with Ballast EROS the third fastest team today.

Chris Thompson is still the fastest SODI – currently faster than DMAX team Two Bald Tyres – and SDR are second with a 1:43 best time.

Blast Off!

Another less familiar team, looking sharp in their matching blue race suits, are Rocket Racing Club, established in 2025, born from a shared ambition to take on the challenge of last year’s inaugural Daytona Milton Keynes D600.

What began as a group of enthusiastic amateurs has rapidly evolved into a disciplined team “dedicated to mastering race craft” and “pushing for continuous improvement”.

Let’s see how they get on in their second outing during storm Boelo.

International Guests

We previewed some of the teams we’re familiar with earlier. Let’s dive into some of the teams we’re less familiar with…

Starting with an International team – Cunning Stunts Racing in the SODI category. The team of seven know each other from the University of Limerick Racing & Motorsport Society.

Thanks for flying over guys – we hope you enjoy the British weather.

Early pace setters

25 minutes in there are no surprises in the Best Time standings. KBR’s Triple Threat is a team featuring lap record holder Jacob Csepreghi – and they’re exchanging fastest laps with Lee Schnitzler’s Clean Bulls Racing.

Chris Thompson has the fastest lap in the SODIs by three seconds.

SODI Preview

At the inaugural D600 race, Team Yellow Racing took victory – but they’re not entered this year, so we’re guaranteed a new champion.

Could that be Chris Thompson? The double Daytona 24 Hours winner raced solo at last year’s D600 and finished second. He’s back at it again with Kristensen’s Klub by DNH, hoping to go one better. They’re joined by sister teams DNH Dad’s and Hawthorn’s Heroes, both of whom have graced a Daytona endurance podium this year.

Last year’s third-placed Triple Threat have made the jump to DMAX, meaning at least two places on the SODI podium are up for grabs.

Will Three Bears Motorsport claim one of them? Vivek Bhalla, Steve Hannon and Sid Stubbings are all familiar faces at Daytona and currently sit fifth in the 2026 Endurance Championship standings – although they’re still chasing their first podium of the season.

There’s a family affair to watch too, with father-daughter duo Paul and Skye Batley returning to the D600. Skye was an ever-present in Season 1 of the Jamie Chadwick Series, and they’ve raced together under the BAT Motorsport banner before. A podium here would be quite the family achievement.

Two familiar names returning from the Daytona 24 Hours in May are Rocket Racing Club and Boldero Motorsports. Rocket Racing Club are back with exactly the same five-driver line-up from May – and last year’s D600! Boldero return with Daniel Perrett and Toby Vaughan. Both teams will be hoping that experience pays off over ten hours of racing.

SDR are another team who clearly believe in keeping the band together. All six drivers from last year’s D600 are back for another crack at it. Familiarity could be a real advantage when the racing gets tough.

TSB Motorsport are another familiar name from May’s Daytona 24 Hours, although Joshua Newbold is the only driver returning from that outing. He’s swapped DMAX for SODI – and has a new set of teammates for this race. A fresh challenge for the TSB man.

KNR Racing have been busy shuffling the pack since the 24 Hours. Kyle Gaffney and Laurence Seagrave return after racing for TDS-KNR in DMAX, while former teammate Harrison Staples lines up for sister team KNR Racing Orange. Ronnie Deacon also joins the party, having raced for GFM Grey in SODI back in May.

There’s also been some musical chairs among the drivers of The Hard Racers, Cunning Stunts Racing and Kartin Luther King. Several of their drivers raced for Racecar Spelt Backwards or Provisional I – Racers at last year’s D600, but they’ve been reshuffled into new line-ups for this weekend. Plenty of familiar faces, just in different colours!

With last year’s winners absent, familiar teams returning and a few new combinations thrown into the mix, the SODI race looks wide open.

DMAX preview: Who’s who?

There are seventeen DMAX teams set to do battle at tomorrow’s D600. Let’s have a look at who we know – and who we don’t know…

Last year, an unstoppable KBR team featuring Lee Schnitzler, Ashley Mayston-King and Peter Stockwin took victory by a whole lap ahead of Maple Motorsport. James King somehow finished third despite racing solo AND having a wheel fly off his kart mid-race. DNH Miles-Shelby Squad, usually more at home in SODI racing, finished fourth, with Phoenix Trios completing the top five.

Fast forward a year and KBR look a little different. They’ve merged with last year’s third-placed SODI team to form KBR’s Triple Threat. Captain James King has recruited the infamous Csepreghi twins and Freddie Jenkins – all local champions who raced together in SODI last year – alongside soon-to-be-crowned Jamie Chadwick Series champion Julia Stankowiak. They’re certainly the favourites, but they won’t have it all their own way.

Former KBR winner Lee Schnitzler has been racing with Clean Bulls Racing this season, alongside Adam Hawtin and Owen Clarke. They won the six-hour race here at Daytona MK in April and will be looking to push KBR all the way. Schnitzler against his former team, and last year’s winner against the man who finished third on his own.

MasterCart sLola are experienced endurance racers and familiar faces at the Daytona 24 Hours. They’ve assembled two teams for this weekend’s ten-hour contest. They finished tenth at last year’s D600, but backed that up with fifth place at the 24 Hours in May. Team captain Christopher Davis-Tong returns from last year’s line-up, while former teammate Nikolay Angelov has moved across to Scuderia Italia sLola Ferrari.

We expect The Mandem to be in the mix too. They started the 24 Hours strongly before an early mechanical issue derailed their race, but they’ve already found themselves on an endurance podium this season. Interestingly, Jason McGhie, George Harris and Tom Avoh all raced together in SODI at last year’s D600 – and now they’re stepping up to DMAX.

They’re not the only ones making the jump. Faster than Sodi certainly have a fitting name, with Jerry Zou, Alfred Yang and Ryan Liu all stepping up from last year’s JAR Racing SODI team. KRT’s Dom Hughes-Clarey and SD Kart’s Nikolay Khramov are also swapping SODI for DMAX, having raced for DRR and MIND respectively last year.

DNH-MAX Iron Dames also boast a strong line-up, including double 24 Hours winner Murphy Thompson, who was part of last year’s fourth-placed DMAX team. He’s joined by Alistair Roy, who raced for DNH Senna’s Squadron last year. Their sister team DNH-Max Hill’s Heroes also feature a familiar face in Imi Owen, who competed in SODI last time around. Bragging rights are on the line.

And that’s not the only friendly rivalry to watch. David Talbot’s Ballast ARDS and Ballast Eros are both packed with familiar Daytona MK names, and neither will want to finish behind the other.

Finally, we welcome back the Flying Havaianas – Daytona 24 Hours veterans who’ll be hoping to improve on their seventeenth-place finish in May. Nick Henry, Andy Stobart and Denis Travin also raced together in SODI at last year’s D600, under the brilliantly mysterious name Team With No Name. They’ve got a name this time – and a DMAX kart to go with it.

Welcome to the D600 2026

The racing gods clearly have a sense of humour…

With Storm Austen battering parts of the UK and Storm Boelo hot on its heels, they’ve decided that ten hours of endurance racing wasn’t quite enough of a challenge.

Welcome to the second-ever D600 at Daytona Milton Keynes, where 45 teams across DMAX and SODI are preparing for the ultimate test of speed, stamina, strategy and, quite possibly, sanity.

Ten hours is a LONG time in karting. Plenty of time for heroes to emerge, favourites to falter, mechanical gremlins to strike and the British weather to throw in a few surprises of its own.

Who will conquer the conditions? Who will keep their cool? And who will still be smiling when the chequered flag falls at 9:40pm?

We’ll be here for every twist, turn and questionable strategic decision along the way.

Strap yourselves in. This could be a wild one!
