Live Reporting
It’s a wrap
And that’s it for testing. We’ll be back bright and early tomorrow.
Here’s all the action from the day.
15 minutes remaining
As the daylight begins to dim and testing draws to a close, we have four DMAX teams in the 1:05s – Red Burros, Apex Nova, Six Helmets and Voltarol.
DNH Hawthorn’s heroes
We have a second SODI team who have broken the 1:14 mark – but No Team Name just doubled down and their most recent lap is their fastest yet – 1:14.608.
Red Burros come charging through
Portuguese for ‘donkeys’, the Red Burros prove they are anything but slow.
A member of the five man team has just set the fastest lap in the DMAX category.
They fly over from Portugal to race here every year.
Lovely blokes too.
Team photos
Calling all teams – please make sure you report to the photo booth upstairs tomorrow for your official team photos, so we can make a graphic about you when you’re winning. Or in last position.
Here’s our new friends at IGC Racing modelling the booth.
They’re a group of construction co-workers from Scotland, racing in the DMAX class this weekend. They have brand new race suits from Temu.

Slow down…
If you minimise this tab and navigate to the penalties tab, you’ll see that we already have half a dozen offenders – five of which are for pit lane speed.
It’s the easiest penalty to earn at this event – and has cost countless teams podiums in the past.
Walking pace, guys. Do you even pay attention to Martin?
Go-karts
Our first of very many racing snaps.

no team name…
The fastest SODI team so far is No Team Name.
They’re the only competitors to break the 1:14 mark so far.
Early Pacesetters
A quarter of the way into testing it’s Kai Ferner’s Apex Nova who have recorded the fastest lap – 1:05.608.
They’re going to be a force to reckon with – lots of local talent and SuperChamps contenders in their team of six.
They’re lucky we know all about them… because they didn’t return a team bio.
Race control – three lap penalty for that?
calm before the storm
Happy members of team Daytona, long before the fatigue kicks in.

Testing Commences
And we’re off!

Command centre construction hour
There’s a festival atmosphere building in the sunshine of Daytona Milton Keynes as people struggle with tent poles, gazebo frames and weights.

Here they come…
Guests are starting to arrive and the music is blaring.
Fist bumps, hugs and handshakes.
Daytona’s 2026 24 Hours is officially underway!

Shiny shiny
Long overdue, you’ll notice a brand-new celebrity leaderboard as you walk into the venue, which allows us some much-needed growing room.
You’ll also notice that we now have a section dedicated to Daytona champions – KBR’s and DNH Miles-Shelby Squad’s names emblazoned in all their glory.
There’s also a section for lap records – which are guaranteed to be set this weekend, with the brand new DMAX fleet making their debut at Daytona Milton Keynes today. We’re also going to reset the SODI lap record.
New board, new records.

Welcome, new DMAX
And here they are, the new DMAX arrivals.
The karts were previously located at Daytona Sandown Park, although they all have all been fitted with brand new chassis for this race.
They’ll be living here at Daytona Milton Keynes from now on. As always, our engineering team have been pulling all-nighters and neglecting their families to ensure your karts are in the best nick possible – and it’s not just the chassis that have been replaced…
New clutches, new brakes, new sprockets, new chains, wheel baring alignments, new batteries, spark plugs, throttle cables, air filters, fuel filters, fuel pump rebuilds, gearbox oil change, new tyres – that’s how you prepare for a 24 hour race.

Kart Lineups
In case you missed yesterday’s kart draw, here are the machines our teams will do battle in.

A glance at the SODI battle
There are two previous champions set to do battle tomorrow.
In one corner, we have Andrew Strike’s CSM Racing – 3x champions, and in the other we have Chris Thompson’s DNH Miles-Shelby Squad – the title holders.
In 2024 CSM were victorious, and Miles-Shelby Squad were third; the same result in the Autumn 24 Hours the same year, and in 2025, Miles-Shelby won with CSM runners-up.
They’re set to slug it out once again.
The other team that has been in the mix on each of those occasions is Greg Owens’ Some Random Bloke – competing for the tenth time – finishing second, second and fourth respectively in the last three outings. They were in a podium position until about 10am on the Sunday last year, when their kart broke down.
With 29 teams in contention, anything can happen.
We’ll be profiling more of the teams as time goes on.
A preview of the DMAX race
All eyes on KBR. James King. His brother Ashley Mayston-King. Pro-racer turned YouTuber Brad Philpot. Ex local championship manager Peter Stockwin. Lee Schnitzler – racing here for 13 years.
They’re the team to beat, unbeaten here for two years in any endurance race they’ve entered. They won this event last year, and the Autumn 24 Hours. They’ve just won the Spanish 24 Hour.
Can anybody stop them?
One team that will be in the running are Six Helmets Racing, who have raced in this event every year since 2018. They came close to winning in 2021, but for a fatigue-induced weight penalty, and pushed KBR all the way last time round. Captain Macauley Pond and his deputy Jake Butler are extremely experienced, and their team of six is littered with talent – and have finished on multiple podiums at this event. They’ll be desperate to go one better this time round!
Algorithmic Ascendancy are a team we see every year and have been racing together for nearly two decades – they finished third at the last outing after having lead the race for the first three hours – until a mechanical problem set them back. They fought hard and climbed from seventh back into third – and their driver Toby Gould claimed the fastest lap of the race.
Voltarol Racing are a team of European powerhouses and are massively accomplished at this event – having competed since 2015. Despite pole positions in 2019 and 2023, they’re yet to finish on the podium. They came close last year, finishing in P4.
There’s 25 teams in contention this year – and at a 24-hour race anything can happen. Mechanical failures, penalties, downpours – expect the unexpected.
KBR finished in sixth in 2024 after a mechanical failure…
Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot
This weekend Milton Keynes is going to be hotter than Athens, Ibiza, Cyprus, Sicily and Malta.
Stay hydrated, folks.
