Daytona Motorsport is proud to announce a new partnership with Motorsport UK, joining the Recognised Karting Pathway and establishing a recognised route into competitive outdoor karting through Daytona’s arrive-and-drive championships.
As part of the expanded Pathway, Daytona’s SuperChamps, InKart and Jamie Chadwick Series have been formally recognised by Motorsport UK, acknowledging the important role these championships play in introducing new drivers to the sport and developing the next generation of motorsport talent.
The Motorsport UK Recognised Karting Pathway has been created to provide clearer routes into racing, recognising progression from indoor karting through to outdoor competition and beyond. Daytona’s involvement in the programme highlights the importance of arrive-and-drive karting as not only an entry point, but a developmental tool within the motorsport community.
For more than three decades, Daytona Motorsport has provided opportunities for drivers of all ages and abilities to experience competitive racing. Across its internationally recognised circuits at Milton Keynes, Surrey and Tamworth, thousands of competitors have taken their first steps into motorsport through Daytona championships, many going on to race at higher levels. From Kenzo Craigie and Sam Bird to Jess Hawkins and Arvid Lindblad, Daytona is proud to have played a role in the early careers of many of motorsport’s brightest talents, reflecting not only the race craft developed through our championships, but also the values of integrity, respect and community that sit at the heart of our sport.
Charles Graham, CEO of Daytona Motorsport, said:
“Every racing driver needs a place to learn their craft, and for most that journey begins in karting. The skills developed in close, wheel-to-wheel competition form the foundation of a successful motorsport career. For the past 36 years, our facilities, expertise and community are formed the perfect first rung of the ladder for budding young racers. F1 driver Arvid Lindblad is a great example, he took part in Daytona’s Bambino programme at the age of six and has gone on to become one of the brightest young talents in international motorsport. We’re delighted that Motorsport UK is recognising the value of arrive-and-drive karting and the role Daytona plays in helping drivers take their first steps into the sport. We’re proud to be recognised as an important stepping stone in British motorsport.”
The partnership will help strengthen links between the wider karting community and Motorsport UK, while giving greater recognition to drivers competing in Daytona’s established championship programmes. It also supports Motorsport UK’s Vision: 2030 karting strategy, which aims to broaden participation and recognise the diverse pathways available within the sport.
Daytona’s recognised championships include SuperChamps and InKart, two of the UK’s leading arrive-and-drive karting series, alongside the Jamie Chadwick Series, which was created to encourage greater female participation in karting and provide an accessible route into competitive racing.
While Daytona Motorsport continues to operate independently of Motorsport UK regulation, recognition within the Pathway acknowledges the valuable contribution made by arrive-and-drive karting and the role it plays in introducing new competitors to the sport.
Dan Parker, Motorsport UK’s Head of Karting, said:
“This is a fantastic new initiative, and we are proud to establish an important new recognised route into competitive karting for participants aged 8 years and over. As well as creating a clearer pathway for those looking to progress from arrive-and-drive into wider competition, it also acknowledges the depth of talent, commitment and competitiveness among the many drivers already racing regularly in this part of the sport. That recognition matters, because this is an important and thriving area of karting in its own right.”
This partnership marks an important milestone for Daytona Motorsport and reinforces our commitment to making competitive karting accessible to more people, while providing clear pathways for progression within the sport.
