InKart
On what was a stunning September morning on the last day of the recent heatwave, we had the pleasure of welcoming 31 drivers back to our venue for the season opener of our iconic InKart Championship.
The format is heats based, so the drivers are randomly put into groups, and in these groups, they do 10-minute practice sessions, followed by two, 10-minute heat races, before a 15-minute final race for which the grids are decided by how well they fare in the heats! We welcomed fresh faces and returning champions for what was a cracking opening round!
In the heats phase of the morning, there was several penalties given for unfortunate incidents that occurred on the track, resulting in the final grids being an interesting read! It was, however, business as usual for Charlie and Jacob Cspreghi, who started the A-Final on the front row, followed by newcomer James Malcolm and Daytona Tamworth regular, Blake Southan. The A-Final had a lot of thrills with even more spills as notable moments were the Cspreghi boys spinning out at turn 10 when the monsoon conditions devoured the circuit! Promoting James and Blake to the lead of the race! Blake clutched up and overtook James Malcolm on the final lap, at the final corner, a fantastic dive, with calculated precision to take victory! In the Cadet category of the A-Final, Rayaan Malik put in yet another exceptional performance to come home in first place, from Alexander Kharadzov in second, and Caelen Keith in third place!
In the B-Final, Nathaniel Stebbings dominated proceedings being the only driver to dip into the 59s in this final, he took victory by just a few seconds over Etah Windsor who podiumed on his first InKart round! Charley Murray came home in third place to complete the B-Final Junior podium! A-Final regulars Gillen Townsend and Kimi Densham found themselves in the B-Final due to some difficulty in the heats phase of the round, however they soon found their form and returned to the podium with Gillen winning the race, from Kimi in second place, and Harry Ward making up the rest of the podium!
Junior Sprint League
Junior Sprint League and early starts seem to have something in common. The race for Round 1 of Season 3 started at just 09:43AM!
Callum Franklin led the way from Jacob Csepreghi and Blake Southan also in close contention for the race victory! Some incidents through-out the race, notably between Cooper West and Louis Bishop, and Blake Southan as well meant that after the race had finished, some post-race penalties were applied! Our winners this week were Callum Franklin, who drove smoothly, with great consistency. Jacob Csepreghi took second place after the penalties were applied but he too was right in the mix at the sharp end of the event! Blake Southan did win the race on the track, but unfortunately took a penalty which demoted him to third place in the end.
