Over 260 Women & Girls Race at Daytona on 8th March

International Women's Day at Daytona Motorsport

Last Friday, 8th March, on International Women's Day, Daytona opened up our three circuits to female racers, to encourage more girls and women to come and try the sport. There were over 260 racers in attendance across our three venues that evening.

The move from Daytona comes as part of our ongoing collaboration with Jamie Chadwick, as we collaboratively share the same goal of increasing female participation in the sport.

Indy NXT racer, and three-times W-Series champion Jamie Chadwick visited Daytona Sandown Park last month to launch the 'Jamie Chadwick Series', a female-only championship which commences in April 2024.

Chadwick commented, "It's fantastic to see such a great turnout. When I started, I started at a similar set-up to [Daytona], arrive & drive karting, and I was always the only female driver on the grid. I can already see there are so many more young girls getting involved in the sport, I think that's fantastic to see."

Meg Aucott-Hermann, Daytona Sandown Park' Assistant General Manager was full of praise for the event, "I've worked at Daytona for over six years now, and to see amount of women from all generations participating in racing was incredible. The racing was competitive on the track, and off the track the atmosphere was amazing - the venue was lit up with smiles. It was definitely one of the most positive events I've ever seen at Daytona, and I would love to see more of it."
