SuperChamps Summer Season Preview

SuperChamps' winter season welcomed back many familiar faces to Daytona Milton Keynes as the drivers keenly awaited the first round of the 2023 Championship. The drivers were split into their usual categories across the two different fleets. The drivers had their first weigh-in of the season to determine our light and heavy classes in DMAX and Birel N35-ST classes.

The N35-ST light category welcomed fresh faces in former Junior Super Champs Championship Winner, Jamie Tiley-Gooden and his title protagonist Dominic 'Dom' Balasaitis. Charlie Smith was another new driver to the series, despite already being well known at Daytona Milton Keynes. These fresh faces were compiled with returning drivers such as Lewis Barton and Matthew Glazebrook. Jamie Tiley-Gooden started the season a little bit shaky, but soon came good, taking his first victory in Round 5, this would start a championship challenge that would lead him to take the title in his Super Champs debut, by just one point, after a season long battle with Charlie Smith who also displayed fantastic levels of skill and consistency to finish second in the standings, with Matthew Glazebrook in third with another consistent season.

The N35-ST Heavyweight category saw the returns of seasoned veterans in Barry Morris, James Brown, and Aiden Miller. Barry and James would dominate the season, no round was one by anyone except for Yousuf Bin-suhayl who won the final round of the season. No matter, the championship came down to fastest laps with the points tied between Barry and James. It was Barry Morris who takes another N35-ST Heavyweight Championship on fastest laps over James Brown in second place. Aiden Miller would finish third after a massively consistent season, a great foundation to build on for next season for sure? Will he be the one to dethrone Barry Morris? Or can James Brown strike back?

Over in the DMAX Lightweight category, multiple N35-ST SuperChamps Champion Adam Thomas finally made the long-awaited switch to DMAX and started the season with four wins on the bounce, showing unrivalled levels of speed, skill, and precision. Phillip Baboolal, a seasoned SuperChamps driver would emerge in the second half of the season and make his title charge, winning two of the final four rounds to take the championship! James Bettison would come home in second place after a full season of consistent podium finishes. In third place was Nathan James, who also displayed great levels of skill throughout the course of the season, more strong foundations to build on for next season for Nathan and James respectively.

The DMAX Heavyweight category was nothing short of dominated by the relentless talent of Kuba Wozniak, whose ability was so emphatic, he would go on to win six out of eight rounds and take the championship by twenty points over Justin Elliot in second, and Iain Riley in third. Sebastian Musicka made great progress through-out the season and also got his feet placed firmly in the ground for a title challenge next season, with Justin and Iain seeking to end the Kuba Wozniak domination!
