Daytona Motorsport, the UK's premier outdoor kart racing organisation, is thrilled to announce its sponsorship of the England Deaf Karting Team (EDKT) for the upcoming 2024 European Deaf Karting Championships (EDKC) in Denmark. This marks a significant milestone in Daytona's ongoing commitment to promoting grassroots racing and supporting the diverse racing community.
Since 1990, Daytona Motorsport has established itself as a leader in providing world-class karting facilities and a platform to showcase talent from all levels of racing. With a rich history of nurturing racing talent, including notable alumni like Formula E's Sam Bird and Formula 2's Zak Sullivan, Daytona Motorsport continues to be a cornerstone in the motorsport community.
The European Deaf Karting Championships, set to take place in Denmark, will feature a record number of team entries from across Europe, including Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, England, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Norway, and Finland. The England Deaf Karting Team, founded in 2005, will proudly represent the nation with Daytona Motorsport as their official sponsor.
The EDKT is run by a dedicated group of volunteers from diverse professional backgrounds, including science, engineering, and education. Over the years, the team has grown exponentially, becoming more competitive than ever before. With two team championships in 2011 and 2018 and numerous individual podium finishes, the EDKT has consistently demonstrated exceptional performance on the European stage.
David Sumner, a former employee and racer at Daytona Tamworth, leads the England Deaf Karting Team as Team Captain. He expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership:
"We are immensely proud to wear the Daytona logo on our team kit during the European Championships. Daytona Motorsport's venues, tracks, and staff have always been held in the highest regard by our team. Their commitment to supporting grassroots racing is truly commendable, and we are honored to promote their association with our team. This sponsorship not only provides us with crucial support but also strengthens our bond with Daytona Motorsport, which we hope to continue long into the future."
Daytona Motorsport's sponsorship of the EDKT underscores its dedication to inclusivity and fostering talent at all levels of racing. The company has previously hosted domestic Deaf Karting Championships at its venues on five occasions, reinforcing its role as a pivotal supporter of the deaf racing community.
The European Deaf Karting Championships promise to be an exciting event, and Daytona Motorsport is proud to play a part in this journey. We look forward to cheering on the England Deaf Karting Team as they compete against the best in Europe.
