Daytona Partner with Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance Charity

Creating a Community of Lifesavers

Daytona are delighted to announce that we are partnering with Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS), as we endeavour to help them raise vital funds and increase their profile in Surrey.

Over the coming year, Daytona is hosting a series of fundraisers and events at our Sandown Park venue to support KSS. These will include a special go karting track day called ‘A Race for KSS’.

As part of the partnership, KSS will provide CPR and defibrillator awareness courses to help create more lifesavers across Surrey. They’ll be working with Daytona on the installation of defibrillators at our tracks and will upskill our employees by delivering CPR and defibrillator awareness courses.

Daytona will help promote KSS through our connections across Surrey, and open up its facilities for team days. Daytona employees will have an opportunity to visit the KSS Redhill base to see their lifesaving work in action.

Charles Graham, CEO of Daytona Motorsport said: “I became aware of KSS because of Henry Surtees’ accident at Brands Hatch in 2009 when Henry was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital by KSS. We then embarked on a series of fundraising events in conjunction with his father John and Mercedes-Benz World via the Henry Surtees Foundation.

“During COVID I was very privileged to get to know a few of the team from KSS when pilots, doctors, administrators and paramedics came to stay with me for their work as I live near the base. I was so impressed with the people and the organisation that I became determined to strengthen ties with the organisation. I became a volunteer with them and, as a consequence of that, became determined that Daytona Motorsport should partner with KSS as there was clear mutual benefit.

“KSS will be providing training to Daytona personnel and advice on procurement of medical equipment that we require to discharge our responsibilities to those entrusting us with their care.

“It is the extraordinary commitment and management that I have witnessed personally at KSS that has prompted this partnership. The people of KSS are a high performing team that sets such an impressive standard. We are very proud and grateful to partner with this world-class organisation.”

Alex Redwood, KSS Head of Corporate Development, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with a local organisation that understands the importance of safety and upskilling their employees and community so that more people in Surrey can have the skills to save lives.

“As an independent lifesaving charity, it costs over £51K per day to operate our lifesaving service, and this is only thanks to the support we receive from the communities we serve. We’re looking forward to working with Charles and everyone at Daytona Motorsport.
