Inspiring the Next Generation of Young Female Racers with Jamie Chadwick
As part of our ongoing collaboration with Jamie Chadwick, Daytona Motorsport recently opened our Milton Keynes circuit to 46 girls to host a special one-off Race School.
Jamie was in attendance for the day and spent time with the girls to offer racing tuition, as well as a media training module in collaboration with WTF1's Amber. Mindset Coach Gloria Budd also spent time with the girls to offer advice on maintaining a winning mentality behind the wheel.
Channel 4 News were in attendance, and the event was broadcast on Sunday 21st April.
As per Daytona's usual Race School methodology, the girls first set benchmark laps on the adult circuit. Jamie Chadwick then escorted the girls round the track to analyse techniques, corner by corner. After lunch, the girls embarked on a 'Lead & Follow' session with a Daytona tutor to help perfect their racing line. They then learned the basics of overtaking and defending. After some theoretical education, and an exam, the girls go out for a final race to determine just how much they improved throughout the course of the day. The day concluded with a medal podium presentation and some girls earned the privilege of racing in Daytona's esteemed InKart championship.
Daytona's Race School runs during school holidays. The next race schools take place in May Half Term - more information.
