SuperChamps Round 3 - Daytona Sandown Park

SuperChamps returned to Sandown Park for Round Three this weekend, with drivers in both SODI and DMAX taking on our Grand Prix format in an alternate circuit. After a dramatic Round Two, the drivers returned eager to add points to their championships.

SODI

In the SODI’s, Lightweight heats were won by Jamie Riches who had Soloman Adeniji just four-tenths behind him at the line. George Beauchamp finished in third just a further four-tenths behind. In the Heavyweights, the heat was won by Sam Roy who finished nine seconds clear of Benny Reid in second. Fin Ions and James Callan battled hard after incurring setbacks early in the race. The pair were separated by just three-tenths at the line.

A dominant performance from Riches saw him take the win in the final by a massive fifteen seconds over Adeniji who led the train of karts fighting for the remaining podium spots. Riches also took the fastest lap of the day with a 50.632 completing his clean sweep. Eight-tenths are all that separated second and sixth place. This epic battle for second included Ashton Woodhatch, Fin Ions, James Callan and Abhay Parmar – showcasing 29 laps of intense competition. Sam Roy once again took the win in the Heavyweight classes as well as setting the fastest lap of the race to take a clean sweep of the results in his class.

DMAX

The DMAX heat race was won by Charlie Foster who led from start to finish despite a high level of the competition and full course yellows early on. Antonio Sholin managed to beat Adam Palmer, Ellis McKenzie and Tom Williams to second place, after all four of them were locked into a battle from the very start, shifting positions seemingly at every turn. The heat race wasn’t without drama with Harry Skinner receiving two penalties, while Henry Lopes-Gracey and James King took one a piece. However, King’s penalty would later be overturned after a successful appeal. The Heavyweight class was won by Lopes-Gracey, who took best in class by nine seconds at the line.

The final had much the same level of excitement and drama, but it would be another dominant, lights to flag performance from Charlie Foster, who once again took the win both overall and in the Lightweight class. As in the heat, the drama with penalties continued, with both Yaseen Khan and Harrison Rude receiving two post-race position drops each. McKenzie would get the better of Sholin, Palmer and Williams who continued their battle from the heat race. The group would be separated by two and a half seconds at the line despite bumper-to-bumper battling for all but the last few laps of the race. Lopes Gracey would take back-to-back wins in the Heavyweight class, again taking the fastest lap to go with it. Kieran Hyde-Moody and Mike Bennet fought it out over second place with Hyde-Moody coming out on top.

Round Three was an incredible watch with battles across all the classes. We look forward to welcoming the SuperChamps Grid back on the Sixth of April for Round Four.

SuperChamps Round 3 - Daytona Tamworth

Round Three of SuperChamps took place this past weekend at Daytona Tamworth, with the drivers taking on the Grand Prix format over an exciting morning of racing.

N35-ST

The Shootout was won by lightweight Amelia Charlesworth, who put in an impressive stint to win the race in a lights-to-flag victory. The only challenge she faced came from a late charge by Rhys Barker, who finished six-tenths of a second behind. In the Heavyweights, it was a strong start to the day for Ben Paines, who finished about eight seconds ahead of second-placed Will Kenny.

In the Feature Race Charlesworth led with similarly strong form, maintaining P1 throughout the race until the penultimate lap where she suffered a mechanical failure and was overtaken by Brandon and Rhys Barker. In an immense demonstration of sportsmanship, the brothers allowed Charlesworth to regain her lead and take a well-deserved victory while the Barkers followed within the second to claim P2 and P3.

In the Heavyweights, Ben Paines climbed into the lead and finished first overall. He was about half a lap ahead of Saul Gregory, who finished in second. The most interesting battle in the class unfolded behind them, where Kenny managed to hang on to third ahead of Anthony Delaney.

DMAX

Joseph Simcock and Luke Dodman battled throughout Round Three of SuperChamps, with Dodman striking first in the Shootout. He won the race by nine-tenths of a second after taking the lead on lap six. Greg Chapman claimed victory in the Heavyweight class, beating long-time rival Stuart Corr.

In the Feature Race, there was a titanic scrap between Dodman and Simcock that continued from the first race. They spent the final five laps glued together, with their battle climaxing at the final corner. Dodman went for a very aggressive dive at the hairpin, replicating what Simcock had done to him just a lap before. However, he braked a little too late and forced Simcock offline, requiring Dodman to concede the victory. They were joined on the podium by Toby Mawdsley, who finished just five-tenths ahead of Nihal Joye.

The battle was just as intense in the Heavyweights, where James Estrop just failed to get ahead of Chapman’s five-tenths lead in the final lap battle for P1.  They were followed by Corr who managed to finish in third, earning some valuable points for the championship.

SuperChamps returns to the Heats Format at the next round at Daytona Tamworth. With all championships as competitive as ever, it promises to be a fantastic event.

SuperChamps Round 4 - Daytona Milton Keynes

SODI

In Heat One, lightweight Thomas Langford took the race victory by two point four seconds over Freddie Jenkins, who also secured the Heat win in the Heavyweight field. In the Lightweights, Oli Kite took second place, with Charlie Csepreghi finishing in third. In the Heavyweights, David Line finished in second place, seven seconds ahead of Richard Da Silva in third.

Max Lindgren claimed the victory in Heat Two after a race-long battle with Harrison Line, who finished just behind in second place. Tom Justice completed the top three in the Lightweights after a storming drive through the field, finishing just six-tenths of a second off the two leaders.

In the Heavyweights, Sailesh Shah narrowly took the victory ahead of Jenkins, who finished just two-tenths of a second behind in second. Line secured third place in the Heat.

In the final, Justice narrowly got the better of Langford after a close battle between the two at the front of the field. Justice also recorded the fastest lap, earning himself an extra point.

Jenkins dominated the Heavyweights with another victory, finishing twenty seconds ahead of Shah in second. Da Silva rounded out the podium positions.

DMAX

Heat One saw Karlis Elmanis storm to victory, finishing seven point six seconds ahead of Luka Nik, with Harry Asher taking third place. Ashley Mayston-King claimed the Heat win in the Heavyweights.

Heat Two featured an impressive drive from Samuel Spencer, who won the race ahead of Elmanis, who finished in second. Nik took yet another podium finish in the Lightweights. Mayston-King claimed another victory in the Heavyweights, extending his advantage at the front of the championship.

As in the first Heat, Elmanis took the victory in dominant fashion, winning by over fourteen seconds from Nik, who narrowly held on to second place after a drag race to the line between himself and Spencer, with the two separated by just eight thousandths of a second. In the Heavyweights, Scott Woosey narrowly got the better of Mayston-King, who finished just seven-tenths of a second back in second, with Tom Duffy rounding out the grid.

Thursday Night League – Round Six at Daytona Tamworth

As the Thursday Night League reached Round Six at Daytona Tamworth, the championship battle intensified with drivers looking to gain crucial points as the season nears its halfway stage.

N35-ST

The 4-stroke action kicked off the evening, with Jude Lillyman claiming pole position by an impressive eight-tenths of a second. The Lightweight class was closely contested, as Fin Imber and Joseph Smith were separated by just two-tenths. In the Heavyweights, Brandon Gathercole narrowly edged out Anthony Delaney, finishing less than a tenth of a second ahead.

In the Feature Race, Lillyman delivered a dominant performance, securing a grand slam victory and finishing fourteen seconds clear of his nearest rival. The Lightweight podium mirrored the qualifying results, with Imber and Smith completing solid drives to P2 and P3, respectively.

The Heavyweight race, however, was far from straightforward. Delaney and Gathercole engaged in a thrilling back-and-forth battle, with Gathercole ultimately taking the win by just one second. They were joined on the podium by Jordan Schofield, an impressive newcomer who only booked his spot on the day of the race.

DMAX-GT

Lillyman carried his momentum into the DMAX category, once again claiming pole position - this time with the top three separated by just four-tenths. Ky Storor lined up alongside him on the front row, while Nihal Joye sat in P3, ready to challenge. In the Heavyweights, Sonny Zacharias secured a critical advantage over championship leader Tom Duffy, who had won five consecutive rounds but faced the challenge of fighting through the pack.

And fight through the pack he did - Duffy delivered a remarkable recovery drive, overtaking Zacharias in the closing stages and building a one point five second gap to secure yet another win. Aaron Short claimed the final podium spot after a determined effort to chase down Zacharias, though he ultimately fell short.

At the front of the Lightweights, Storor capitalised on Lillyman’s misfortune - an untimely kart issue halfway through the race - to take a comfortable win by two point five seconds over Joye. Lucas Gathercole battled fiercely for the final podium position but couldn’t quite find a way past Joye.

It was an enthralling evening of action at Daytona Tamworth, and attention now shifts to Round Seven, which takes place in two weeks' time.

Thursday Night League – Round Six at Daytona Milton Keynes

The Thursday Night League continued with a thrilling Round Six at Daytona Milton Keynes, delivering close battles and standout performances across both the SODI and DMAX categories.

SODI

In the Lightweights, Adam Pughe secured pole position by the narrowest of margins -just four-hundredths of a second ahead of Barry Morris, while George Benson lined up third, three-tenths further back.

In the Heavyweights, David Rollins delivered another dominant qualifying display, taking pole by a commanding eight-tenths over Richard Danby, with Ash Chivers only a tenth behind in third.

The Feature Race in the Lightweights became the battleground for a race-long duel between Morris and Pughe, with Morris ultimately claiming victory by just two-tenths of a second at the line. Jacob Csepreghi produced a standout drive, climbing from fifth to third after making decisive moves on both Noah Willis and Benson.

In the Heavyweights, Rollins was untouchable, crossing the line fourteen seconds ahead of Chivers in P2. Dawn Griffiths rounded out the podium with a solid drive for third.

DMAX

James King was in a league of his own during qualifying, securing pole position by seven-tenths over championship leader Nathan Boyle. Ashley Mayston-King was the fastest Heavyweight, qualifying third overall, with Julia Stankowiak and Arjun Ghirra completing the top five.

In the Feature Race, King was unstoppable, taking a commanding victory by seventeen seconds and setting the fastest lap by over a second. Behind him, Boyle held on to second place, while Stankowiak pulled off an impeccable move at the crucial moment to take third overall.

In the Heavyweights, Mayston-King took the win comfortably, finishing eight seconds ahead of Ghirra. Paul Studd claimed the final podium spot after a daring last lap overtake on David Rollins at the penultimate corner.

The Thursday Night League now heads to Round Seven, promising another night of intense racing and championship drama.

Thursday Night League – Round Six at Daytona Sandown Park

Round Six of the Thursday Night League returned to the Grand Prix layout at Daytona Sandown Park, delivering a night full of drama and intense battles across both the SODI and DMAX categories.

SODI

Fin Ions claimed victory in the SODI category, but not without controversy. Dan Gamblin was the first to cross the line after a thrilling wheel-to-wheel battle with Ions but was disqualified post-race for failing to meet the minimum weight requirement. This handed Ions the win, along with the extra point for the fastest lap.

The battle for the remaining podium positions was equally intense. Oliver Thornett was promoted to P2, fending off a late charge from Harry Pickles, who passed him with just three laps to go but was later classified third following Gamblin’s disqualification.

In the Heavyweights, Matthew West dominated the race to take a commanding win, with Carlos Roberts joining him on the podium in P2 after a strong performance.

DMAX

The DMAX race was a chaotic affair, featuring penalties, tight racing, and non-stop position changes. Antonio Sholin initially took the chequered flag, but a post-race penalty for a start infringement dropped him to fourth. This promoted Archie Bullard to first place, marking a crucial victory in his championship campaign.

Bullard was joined on the podium by Charlie Foster in P2, while Liam Duffett claimed the final podium spot with a consistent and composed drive.

Further back, Alfie Shrubb narrowly held off Jack Redfern to secure ninth place. Redfern produced an impressive recovery drive after early-race drama, but Shrubb defended superbly in the final laps to maintain his position.

The fastest lap of the race went to Thomas Williams, who set a blistering 46.445.

In the Heavyweights, Warran Gomm emerged victorious, with Robert Guymer and Eyston Vaughan-Huxley completing the podium after a fiercely contested race.

Round Six was an eventful and unpredictable chapter in the Thursday Night League. The championship battle resumes on the Third of April with Round Seven, as the series shifts to the Alternate layout and the second half of the season gets underway.
