Jamie Chadwick Series - Round 4

The clouds were over Daytona Milton Keynes for round four of the Jamie Chadwick Series with the threat of rain looming over the track, leaving a feeling of uncertainty within the drivers.

Both championship leaders Amelia Wolf and Lily Jeffs were looking to take yet another win in the series and a second of the season at Daytona MK to extend their championship leads.

DMAX:

The qualifying session saw third in the championship, Hope Wood, take pole position by two and half tenths over Abi Sanders, with Amelia Wolf just a few hundredths further back.

Race one was dominated by Wood at the front of the field, finishing 3.5 seconds in front of the battling pair of Sanders and Wolf behind her in second and third respectively, she also took the fastest lap of the race which gave her the pole for the second heat. Further down the field, Rhianna Purcocks finished in fourth as she tried to close the gap to Wolf in front of her.

Race two saw some great battling for the lead, with three different drivers taking turns to lead the race, but it was Purcocks who took the win, with a brilliant drive working her way up from fifth on the grid. Hope Wood did what she needed to do to secure the round win, finishing in second place, and closing the gap between the two driver ahead of her in the championship. Wolf took yet another third in the race, which was enough for her to maintain her championship lead.

SODI:

In the 4-stroke category, Alyona Nikolaeva took pole position by just a tenth over Amelia Charlesworth, with Ella Wroe just a few tenths back in third place. It wasn’t a great qualifying session for championship leader Lily Jeffs, who found herself starting in tenth on the grid - a far cry from her regular starting position.

In race one, Nikolaeva took the race win by more than three seconds over Charlesworth, who had a comfortable ten second gap ahead Skye Batley in third. Jeffs had a typically strong drive and crossed the line in fourth, however was demoted down to seventh after a three-position penalty for a taking out another driver.

The second race was on the chaotic side, with five drivers battling for the race win, and a number of very close battles for all the positions out on the track. The close nature of these battles inevitably led to contact between competitors, meaning penalties were handed out, including to heat one winner Nikolaeva, who received a one-position penalty. The race came to a dramatic end as Mia Caruso made a late lunge on Charlesworth on the inside corner of turn one, causing her to spin out, resulting in the race to being red flagged and ending prematurely.

After all the drama, Emma Rabbage won the race over Ella Wroe in second. Alyona Nikolaeva finished in third, but was demoted to fourth due to the penalty, promoting Lily Jeffs into third place.

In the overall results for the round, Nikolaeva took the win with the fastest lap giving her an extra point. There was a three-way tie between Ella Wroe, Amelia Charlesworth and Emma Rabbage for the final two spots on the podium. It came down to the fastest lap on the day, with Charlesworth taking second, Rabbage in third and Wroe in fourth.

Thursday Night League – Milton Keynes

SODI

The heavens had opened for Round Two of SODI Thursday Night League at Daytona Milton Keynes with the track being soaked making the conditions challenging for the drivers.

Craig McAllister used his wealth of experience to take the pole from Richard Danby who was just five hundredths behind in second, Dom Zaremba was 2.8 seconds off the pole in third just narrowly in front of Tom Ludovico and Noah Willis in fourth and fith.

Danby took the win from McAllister who was held up by a lapped driver, allowing Danby to get pass and build up a 3.6 second gap at the front of the field. Zaremba converted his third place in qualifying to third in the final, finishing ten seconds off the race lead and three seconds in front of Willis in fourth.

DMAX

The rain increased even more for DMAX with nineteen drivers battling it out on the soaked track.

Richard Danby followed up his impressive performance in the SODI race by taking pole by a second over Ash Chivers who placed second and Ashley Mayston-King in third. Lee Schnitzler was only a tenth behind third with Craig McAllister in fifth.

Lee Schnitzler charged from fourth place on the grid to take the race win just in front of Paul Studd who put up a great defense to hold the fast-charging Mayston-King who had the fastest lap by eight tenths behind in third. Richard Danby was sadly prevented from battling for the win due to a kart issue which forced him into the pitlane. Chivers who had battled for the race lead for most of the race had a couple of spins in the dying stages of the race which would see him fall down the field.
