InKart Round 4 - Daytona Milton Keynes

Heats

Juniors

Jacob Kent took victory in Heat One, but a post-race position penalty dropped him down the order, promoting Ethan Steng to the win. In Heat Two, Connor Mitchell secured the victory, narrowly holding off Michael Oxtoby-Page by five tenths after a close battle, with Keith Onoyom taking third. Heat Three saw Arel Kesimgil take the win by just four tenths over Oxtoby-Page, with Megan Gascoyne finishing a close third. The final heat of the day went to Noah Johnson, with Nathaniel Garai and Dominic Fleming completing the top three.

Cadets

Lily Catignon started her day strong by taking the Heat One victory, fending off Ryan Cafferkey and Kimi Densham, who were separated by just a couple of seconds at the finish. In Heat Two, Leo Sibthorpe took the flag three seconds ahead of Gillen Townshend, while Charlie Marden followed a further two seconds back. Catignon doubled up in Heat Three with another win, this time by the narrowest of margins – just a tenth – over the second-placed driver. Townshend closed out the heats with a win in the final race, with Cafferkey and Densham rounding out the top three.

Finals

B-Final

Sarah Telford took a hard-fought victory after a tense battle with George Taylor, with the pair separated by just 1.2 seconds at the flag. Charlie Whiltshire secured third place but was some way back, finishing sixteen seconds adrift of the leaders.

In the Cadets, Caden Kavanagh dominated the B-Final with a commanding performance, crossing the line seventeen seconds ahead of Amelia-Alice Barreau. Phoebe Shelton completed the podium and secured third place. Kavanagh’s victory also earned him a well-deserved promotion to the A-Final.

A-Final

The A-Final in the Juniors produced a thrilling three-way scrap for the win between Kent, Oxtoby-Page, and Kesimgil, with all three covered by less than a second at the finish. Oxtoby-Page crossed the line first ahead of Kesimgil and Kent, but post-race penalties for the top two promoted Kent to victory, with Oxtoby-Page and Kesimgil completing the podium.

In the Cadets, Catignon completed a clean sweep of victories, further strengthening her championship campaign. Townshend finished second, marking his first point loss of the season, while Sibthorpe claimed third, finishing seven seconds behind the leading pair.

Championship Standings & Season Impact

Kent’s A-Final victory, coupled with penalties for his rivals, keeps him firmly in the title fight as the season progresses. Oxtoby-Page showed impressive pace throughout the day but will be frustrated with how the final result unfolded. Meanwhile, Catignon’s perfect performance in the Cadets puts her in a strong position to challenge Townshend for the championship lead.
