Daytona CEO achieves a podium finish in the Birkett 6 Hour Endurance

Our CEO competed in the Birkett 6 Hour Endurance race on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit

Daytona’s CEO, Charles Graham, entered the Birkett 6 Hour Endurance Race at Silverstone on the Grand Prix Circuit last weekend in the Daytona works Radical SR3 RSX. The Team won the race last year and were hoping for a win or at least a podium in 2022.

Weather conditions were damp initially but Charles managed to qualify first  in his session. The track was still damp for the start and a strategy decision left the team in 4th and a couple of laps down early in the race, Al Smart did his best but a PR6 in the wet was not the fastest car for the first stint however the cars ran smoothly with no major issues and the team pushed hard and managed to work their way back to P2, with the clock running down the 6 hours. After an epic last stint by cg’s long standing team mate Wade Eastwood, and with 17 minutes to go of the six hours, they managed to take P1.

They were then informed of a yellow flag infringement and given a 60 second stop go penalty which bumped them to  P3 before the race was stopped early, with 8 minutes to go due to an incident on track.

They came so close to pulling off an amazing victory. Daytona CEO has achieved a podium on each occasion he has contested the Birkett over the last six years and won in both 2019 and 2021.

Overall the race was fantastic. Congratulations go to RAW Motorsports as scratch winners and 750 Motor Club for another great Birkett. Charles was considering retiring from Motorsport and a win might have sealed that decision however it looks like we may have to go again in 2023. Watch this space.
