Damon Hill Karting Challenge

"A great go karting event, raising money for charity"

It’s not often drivers have the chance to race on track against a Formula One World Champion, but that’s exactly what happened on the 15th June 2022 at Daytona Sandown Park. The Damon Hill Karting Challenge held its annual event for the 7^th time with Daytona Motorsport to raise money for the Halow project, a charity with a focus on nurturing young people with disabilities and guiding them towards fulfilled and happy lives. Damon Hill is patron to the charity, a cause which is close to his heart.

Racers enjoyed the endurance event where they were not only able to battle wheel to wheel on track with Damon, but also Perry McCarthy (who portrayed the Stig in the hit TV show Top Gear) as well as a host of other drivers who fought for a place on the podium.

Damon Hill has a long history with Daytona, including being involved in the circuit design of our iconic Wood Lane raceway venue in London in the early 90’s, as well as launching his Formula One biography at one of our venues.

Charles Graham (Daytona CEO) who has known Damon for over 30 years said about the event “It was so good to see so many people having a great time and raising money for charity and to see our old friends Damon Hill and Perry McCarthy so relaxed and having a good time.”
