The 19th annual running of Daytona’s Property ProKart Challenge, in association with Estates Gazette, saw the closest finish ever, with last year’s winners over-coming a two lap handicap to finished second and last lap disappointment for the Estates Gazette Team as they were pipped to third by Cowell Group.
Following their emphatic back to back wins in 2014 and 2015, the London and District team accepted a two lap handicap at the start of the race to even things up but they took the lead after just 62 laps with an impressive opening one-and-a-half hours but their lead would never exceed two laps for the remaining four-and-a-half hours as the other teams chased them hard to the chequered flag.
In the final hour of the race, just when London and District looked safe for yet another win, they suffered a puncture (possibly due to excessive kerbing) and dropped to second, leaving Clive Emson Auctioneers to take the chequered flag for the first time ever.
Full race report will be published in Estates Gazette in a couple of weeks time, but Daytona would like to congratulate the Podium Finishers and thank event sponsors Cowell Group and London & District Housing for helping to make the 19th annual running of the PPK such an exciting and enjoyable day.
